The Creole Princess by Beth White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book was a joy to read! The second in a series by Beth White, I anticipated another fantastic story. This one starts several generations after The Pelican Bride. She sets the historic scene and then takes off with the adventures Lysette and Rafa find themselves in regularly throughout the book. The characters are delightful, colorful, and unique. Their individual circumstances intertwine yet bring intensity to the drama. I appreciated learning about the Spanish role in America as they gained their independence from Britain, the time period of this book. Beth White has done her research, again to gain accuracy even including real people from the era. She also keeps you guessing as in her first book about the romances between characters. Will they ever get together or will someone else enter the picture and sweep them away? Watching their loved ones go off to war and espionage causes their faith to be tested. Will the faith of their ancestors hold true?
I highly recommend reading The Creole Princess and look forward to the next installment in this series by Beth White.
