The Romantic Ruse: Hunter’s Grove- Book 1 by Barbara Goss
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The Romantic Ruse had me guessing through the whole book. I expected a character to do an action and then I turned the page to find I was clearly wrong. Then the story would take a different twist. I enjoyed the surprises though.
Lily starts all of this by masquerading as her friend traveling to Kansas to marry a rancher. She learns her lesson by all the dangers she encounters. She is quite a spunky gal but will she decide to trust God to help her out of her troubles and into the arms of the man she loves?
I received a copy of The Romantic Ruse: Hunter’s Grove – Book 1 from the author by agreeing to read and honestly review her book. Thank you, Barbara Goss!
I absolutely love Barbara Goss! She was put in my path for a reason. Her books touch my heart and soul. I have been going through what seems like trial after trial. This book brought me such hope and encouragement. We all are guilty of deceit at least once in our life. One lie turns into another lie, and before you know it the situation is totally out of control. All you can do is hope that once you ask for forgiveness that the person/people are willing to move on from the situation at hand! The situation between Gus and Lily was very realistic. The author did not succumb to the standard I forgive you and lets move forward, and live happily ever after, which I have seen done so many times.
He didn’t find it hard to forgive her because he is a Christian, but we are not required to forget. It shows his feelings, and obstacles he faces by her deceit. The real question here is does he love her enough to move past all the deceit, and start over.
I actually just read this book the other day. I loved reading your review. I just left my review this morning, which I will attach the link if anyone is interested! I am a huge fan of hers! PS-You should read the Shadow series. There is a book in the series called Shadow of Deceit, which is similar to this type of story. It is one of my favorites!

I found Barbara Goss on Goodreads and volunteered to read her book and review it so she is a new author to me. I read The Romantic Ruse quite a while ago but had other pending reviews to do before hers.
Her theme is redeeming to those of us who need Jesus’ grace and mercy and other’s forgiveness. It touched my heart, too.
Thank you for leaving your review for me and for commenting on my blog!
