Wicked Disregard – Book 3 in Finders Keepers Mystery Series worth reading!

May 27, 2016 by admin Leave a Comment

Wicked Disregard (Finders Keepers Mystery Series Book 3)Wicked Disregard by Barbara Ann Derksen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I liked this book and would suggest that you read Book 1 and 2 in the Finders Keepers Mystery Series before this one because they build on each other. It’s still a great one on its own though. Plenty of intrigue and suspense to keep the pages turning and strong characters that interact well together are pluses. I learned more disturbing facts about the child slave trade in America and across the world, also. Faith and reliance on prayer play into the story, too.p
Christine doesn’t have a spare minute in her busy life as a private detective locating lost children and figuring out if she will take on her parents’ business. Will she allow Jeremy into her heart? Who knows unless you read Wicked Disregard.
I received a copy of this book from The Book Club Network and the author for my honest review. Thank you for this opportunity!

The Promise of Forgiveness – Poignant and Unforgettable!

February 11, 2016 by admin 2 Comments

The Promise of ForgivenessThe Promise of Forgiveness by Marin Thomas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Promise of Forgiveness mesmerized me. The main character, Ruby Baxter is not like me at all and I loved reading her story. She has a teenage daughter who seems to be following in her unfortunate footsteps. Ruby determines to not let that happen as she moves her far away from trouble. That move includes looking up her biological father in a town called Unforgiven, Oklahoma. This begins a reluctant journey for everyone else she comes in contact with like peeling a large onion. This remarkable book by Marin Thomas has mystery, lost family connections, romance, and room for forgiveness. Forgiveness takes steps and this novel climbs them up and down.
I highly recommend The Promise of Forgiveness.

Always Watching – Lynette Eason’s best!

Always Watching (Elite Guardians #1)Always Watching by Lynette Eason
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A terrific mystery and suspense novel! At a certain place in the book I could not put it down. I had to find out the ending.
Wade Savage, a celebrity psychiatrist and radio host, is stalked by an unknown person who is sending him gifts. Behind his back his dad arranges for a bodyguard company to keep him safe. From the first sentence the book takes off and surprises appear repeatedly. I can’t say much or I’ll give away information you will want to discover yourself. Complex characters and intriguing events move the storyline. Lynette Eason has written one of her best.
I received a copy of this book from Net Galley and Revell Reads for my honest review.

Mystery and Intrigue Follow Two Brothers in The Secrets of the Castle!

February 1, 2016 by admin Leave a Comment

The Secrets of the CastleThe Secrets of the Castle by Aaron M. Zook Jr.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is out of my normal genre yet with a newborn grandson it’s not too soon to compile a list for him to read.
Escapades for two brothers and their dogs, Thunder and Lightning on vacation in Germany with their parents fills The Secrets of the Castle. Gabe opens in first person with a scary ride on the Autobahn in their van, the Go Mobile. On their way to visit two castles he and his brother, Alex have studied in homeschool Gabe is certain a hidden tunnel connects the two. What transpires the rest of the trip will create vivid scenes in your mind. As mystery and intrigue follow the boys and their dogs the pages fly by. The camaraderie and competition between the brothers plus their parents’ parenting style add to the appeal of this novel.

I highly recommend The Secrets of the Castle for preteens. Aaron Zook will be on my list of authors for my grandson and the rest of his books in this series, Thunder and Lightning!

A copy of this book was given to me by The Book Club Network and the author for my honest review. Thank you!

Vendetta – Entertaining and Suspenseful!

Vendetta (The Nikki Boyd Files #1)Vendetta by Lisa Harris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you like suspense, mystery, a little romance, and a clean novel this book is for you! I thoroughly enjoyed reading Vendetta. Lisa Harris is another author that I am going to follow. Her characters are well developed and strong. The story connects all the way to the end and keeps you guessing. From the first page I was engaged which is important to me. The theme of missing persons was intriguing and Lisa shows many sides of that trauma. I highly recommend Vendetta and Lisa Harris to other readers!

I received a copy of Vendetta by Net Galley for my honest opinion which I have given.

The Face Transplant – A Fascinating, Clean Read!

October 11, 2015 by admin Leave a Comment

The Face TransplantThe Face Transplant by R. Arundel
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Face Transplant takes you for a great ride! This is a clean, fast paced mystery. R. Arundel creatively details the characters that interact so well with each other as surprises and challenges come their way. Matthew leads the drama and I really liked him. His team travels all over the world to solve the dilemma they find themselves in after a face transplant goes wrong. I could visualize where they were and what was happening in each scenario, a very good quality for a first time writer. The circumstances that occur could happen in the future and probably are in place now. The plot is clearly thought out and drives the movement of the book. I stayed up to read this one. I will be watching for future books from this author! I highly recommend reading this fascinating book, The Face Transplant!

Midnight in Mississippi – Suspense and Intrigue!

Midnight on the Mississippi (Secrets of the South Mysteries #1)Midnight on the Mississippi by Mary Ellis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this suspenseful mystery by Mary Ellis. She keeps the reader guessing and turning the pages. I will definitely want to read the next book in this series.

Hunter Galen’s partner is found murdered. Hunter was getting calls from him all day and even during a large family party and now he’s dead. Of course, Hunter is at the top of the list of suspects. As he searches for clues to who did the crime and why his partner would be murdered he discovers shady dealings he knew nothing about. Enter Nikki Price, a novice private detective who convinces Hunter to let her take the case. As she looks for evidence to prove Hunter innocent someone doesn’t want her snooping around. You will need to read this adeptly written novel to see for yourself how this murder is solved.

I highly recommend Midnight on the Mississippi the first of the South Mysteries.

Trial by Twelve – A Fun Mystery!

June 24, 2015 by admin Leave a Comment

Trial by Twelve (A Murder in the Mountains, #2)Trial by Twelve by Heather Day Gilbert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Take your time and give Trial by Twelve a chance. Each chapter begins with an anonymous letter written by a father to his estranged child. Once you get into it the pages will fly by. Since I have not read the first book in Heather Day Gilbert’s A Murder in the Mountain series I’m assuming the main character, Tess is introduced there. She will entertain you and her family is delightful. One problem though or actually quite a few keep her from her ideal life. She works part time at a high end spa where bones are discovered while an outdoor pool is being installed. She gets pulled into the investigation when more than one human’s bones are found. A super sleuth, Detective Tucker is on the case and thinks Tess can help him while she keeps an eye on the spa staff. Her attorney husband is less enthusiastic over her involvement. He’s on his way up the ladder and needs her by his side. This book will entertain, provide suspense, and even give some humor.

I recommend Trial by Twelve. It’s a great summer read or anytime you want a vacation from your life.

I received a copy of Heather Day Gilbert’s book through The Book Club Network for my honest review which I have given.

Hush Little Baby – Suspenseful!

June 24, 2015 by admin Leave a Comment

Hush Little BabyHush Little Baby by Deborah M. Piccurelli
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hush Little Baby by Deborah Piccurelli opens with investigator, Amanda Blake starting her first day undercover at an abortion clinic. She has taken an administrative assistant position to hopefully discover illegal practises done there by the physician. This doctor performed an abortion on her sister years ago and she died from it. Amanda wants to expose him and keep him from continuing to abort babies. She is a Christian and is pro-life so this assignment has multiple negative parts to it. She cannot let her guard down though. She is currently separated from her husband. Amanda must decide whether it is time to file for divorce while having to work with her husband, also on the investigation. They are both little people. I thought that the author gave the reader a true glimpse into the complications of life as a little person but also to show how very much they are so like us. Several other societal issues are covered in this intriguing book; single parenting, divorce, to have children or not, abortion and selling of body tissues.
I found myself hurrying through my day to get back to the book.

I recommend this Hush Little Baby. I was given an copy by The Book Club Network for my hones review.
