Straightened – Highly Recommend!

Straightened (Kennedy Stern #4)Straightened by Alana Terry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Alana Terry takes on a controversial subject in this next novel in her Kennedy Sterns Christian Suspense series. One of her characters searches to place himself as a homosexual or not. His family who is from her first book in the series, holds to a conservative, Christian view. The novel contains varying opinions never preaching or maintaining one point over the other. It’s an excellent dialogue within a story and well worth reading. Kennedy battles with her thoughts and emotions for the young man’s choices and the reactions he receives. The outcome kept me reading and surprised me. I highly recommend this book!

I received a copy from The Book Club Network and the author. All thoughts are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

Dynamo – Dynamic!

DynamoDynamo by Eleanor Gustafson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a dynamic book! Wow! Dynamo takes you on a wild ride like on a rodeo bronco. Ups and downs, twists and turns follow the main character Jeth Cavanaugh throughout. He’s destined for a horse, a change in his life, and a meeting with God. His desire for one woman places him against many odds as he makes critical decisions along the way. His new friends support him as best they can but he has a mind of his own. God’s dealings with Jeth crush your heart yet you see His hand on him over and over.
Dynamo will take you on a faith journey that may be similar to your own while it builds your trust in God as it did mine. Take time out to read it!

I was graciously gifted this book by the author, Eleanor Gustafson for my honest review above.

Spoken From the Heart reaches the Heart!

Spoken From the Heart: Choosing GraceSpoken From the Heart: Choosing Grace by Cheri Swalwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spoken From the Heart is written with authenticity and honesty. The author clearly desires to be a woman of God and deals openly with her every day issues that readers can relate to in their own lives. I would like to share some quotes to show you what to expect from this 31 day reading.

“My job is to love. Accept the person. Let others know they are valuable, loved worthy, and unique. And….introduce them to our Father. Then let God be the One, in His time, to show the person what areas in their lives need help. He’s more than capable.”

“Not once in these examples did Jesus degrade, criticize, demean or replay the person’s mistakes repeatedly. So my point in all this is two-fold. We need to look toward Jesus’ response when others make mistakes that affect us. And also, we need to remind ourselves that if Jesus is willing to show compassion when we’re learning, we need to give ourselves that same courtesy. After all, that’s the way of the God of the Universe handles the situation, don’t you think it’s good enough for us, too?”

“He doesn’t need me to obey perfectly. In fact, I will never be perfect. I don’t need to place high expectations on myself to ‘hear Him right’ all the time. I just need to be willing to listen when He speaks. …But if I’m truly seeking to listen to His voice, He will keep talking until I get it.”

More awaits the reader inside Spoken From the Heart.

I received a copy of this book from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.
